LT companies among the European Seal of e-Excellence Winners 2012

Six innovative and market driven language technology companies won on 6 March the European Seal of e-Excellence award. The Seal has been awarded annually since 2003 and is widely known for distinguishing companies with innovative products and services and outstanding marketing track records.

Gold language technology winners:

Digital publishing AG (www.speexx.com), a German supplier of online language learning technology (using the Intellispeech accent-reduction tool, and Speex Plug&Learn)


Lingosaur (www.lingosaur.com) a Finnish online translation management platform designed to create an efficient and easy solution for customers to make translation orders over the Internet, and provide jobs for translators.

Young Digital Planet (www.ydp.eu) a German educational publisher that among other products provides online language learning courses that integrate speech and other language technology solutions.



Platinum language technology winners:

Admantx (www.admantx.com) from Italy offers semantics-based data contextaulization technology to optimize ad placement. The aim is to assure that the underlying emotional response to the content matches the action desired by the advertiser.

Anboto (www.anbotogroup.com) is a Spanish supplier of Web Customer Service and e-Commerce technology based on semantics and natural language processing to reduce costs and increase sales. The company’s main products are a Virtual Sales Agent and Intelligent Chat.

Inbenta, (www.inbenta.com) is a Barcelona-based company that pioneered a new approach to corporate semantic search designed to improves the customer experience.

First LT-Innovate Summit in Brussels on 19 June 2012

On 19 June 2012, Brussels will become a meeting point for LT-Innovate members and representatives from the Language Technology Industry to network, discuss needs, strategies, innovation opportunities and business trends.
The LT-Innovate Summit will bring together all major players involved in Language Technology (LT) such as policy makers, vendors and corporates, experts and investors, enhancing the visibility of the fragmented European LT landscape and establishing LT as a key enabling technology for Europe.

The LT-Innovate Summit features:

Language Industry Web Platform (LIND-Web) holds Forum on 24 May in Brussels

The European Commission's DG Translation will host a forum for the EU language industry on 24 May 2012 to build upon the Language Industry Web Platform (LIND-Web) launch in 2010 and the development work carried out in 2011.

This forum aims at bringing together language industry stakeholders (i.e. SME's/multinationals requiring language services, language service providers, translator associations, language and translation departments of universities, …).

Workshop on Language Resources for Public Security Applications

The eighth international conference on Language Resources and Evaluation (LREC) will be organised end May 2012 by ELRA with the support of a wide range of international associations and organisations. (Pre-conference Workshops: 21-22 May 2012,
Main Conference: 23-24-25 May 2012 and Post-conference Workshops: 26-27 May 2012).
The aim of LREC is to provide an overview of the state-of-the-art, explore new R&D directions and emerging trends, exchange information regarding LRs and their applications, evaluation methodologies and tools, ongoing and planned activities, industrial uses and needs, requirements coming from the e-society, both with respect to policy issues and to technological and organisational ones.
